Fruit of the week: Sour Sop

       The Sour Sop is more than just that delightful sweet and sour fruit that makes your taste buds come alive. The Annona Muricita is also known as graviola, cherimoya, guanabana, custard apple, brazilian paw paw.

        The fruit is predominantly grown in the rain forests of south America, in South East Asia and some parts of Africa.
      Prior to today, I had never had te sour sop but I must say that hence forth this delightful fruit is going to be a part of my diet. All the parts of the fruit including the barks, leaves and roots of it's tree are used are used for traditional remedies as it is said to contain anti-parasitic, anti-rheumtic, astringent,  anti-leishmanial and cytotoxic effects. It is said to be also very effective against cancer.

      The nutrient content of the sour sop includes vitamin c, phospharis, potassium, iron, vitamins B1 and B12. The sour sop can also be usedbin drinks, desserts and salads.
